The biggest highlight of our tour has to be the land of Toraja. Where time seems to stand still amidst the towering mountains and lush greenery. You'll spend 4-5 days exploring this cultural gem, where traditional rituals, amazing mountain treks, whitewater rafting, unique architecture, and intricate funeral ceremonies await your discovery.

Another highlight not to be missed is a recently discovered natural wonder! Nestled amidst towering limestone cliffs and emerald-green rice paddies. Spend 2-3 days immersing yourself in the tranquility of this off-the-beaten-path destination, as you cruise along its serene rivers and marvel at its breathtaking karst formations.

After all the adventure, it's time to unwind on the pristine Indonesian coast, in a charming little coastal village famous with the locals for its white sandy beaches and vibrant coral reefs. 10 DAY ITINERARY

DAY 1: Arrival in MAKASSAR

Your adventure begins in South Sulawesi’s bustling capital city Makassar, where you’ll be greeted with warm hospitality, a taste of authentic Indonesian cuisine and an opportunity to get to know you’re new travel companions. We’ll start our journey with a tour of the city through the streets of Makassar. Taking a look into its dutch colonial past as well as visiting the stunning 99 domes mosque with its incredible and unique architecture. All before setting off to explore Sulawesi’s southern wonders.

“Makassar is the largest city in Eastern Indonesia. Historically, it has been a significant trading port, serving as the center of the Gowa Sultanate (14th Century), a Portuguese naval base (17th Century), and later under Dutch East India Company control (17th Century).”

DAYS 2-6: Discover the Mysteries of TORAJA

On day 2 we’ll journey deep into the rugged highlands of Toraja, a land shrouded in mystique and rich cultural heritage. Spending 4-5 days exploring traditional villages nestled amidst lush rice terraces and towering limestone cliffs. We’ll witness elaborate funeral ceremonies, take a close look at the intricate traditional architecture of Torajan buildings, and experience ancient rituals that have endured for centuries. We’ll meet with friendly locals, take a peak into their homes and gain insights into their way of life! Not only will we have amazing cultural experiences but we’ll also explore the beautiful nature that Toraja has to offer. We’ll trek through it’s luscious green landscapes to hidden waterfalls and ride down its rivers on a rafting adventure!

They believe their nobility descended from heavenly beings and that rituals tied to life, death, and agricultural cycles maintain the energy of the land.” 

DAYS 7-9: Encounter Natural Splendor in this HIDDEN PARADISE

Journeying to our last stop before heading to the beautiful Indonesian coast. Well venture into a hidden paradise with breathtaking landscapes, nestled amidst towering karst mountains and verdant valleys. We’ll spend 2-3 days immersing ourselves in the tranquility of this enchanting slice of nature. We’ll cruise along emerald rivers, explore a crystal cave, observe ancient cave wall paintings and all while surrounded by awe-inspiring limestone formations that dot the landscape.

“The world’s third-largest karst mountain range, covering 45,000 hectares and recognized as an Indonesian World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Formed around 30 million years ago, evidence of early human activity can still be seen in the form of ancient writings and symbols on the mountain walls. Its beauty is often compared to famous destinations like Ha Long Bay in Vietnam and Guilin in China.”

DAY 9-10: Coastal Escapes AND BEYOND

As your journey draws to a close we’ll head south. First taking a step back in time and leaving the modern world for the more simple life. Taking a walk through the off grid village of a local tribe who live now as they did hundreds of years ago, without modern technology or influence. After returning to the modern day you’ll have a chance to soak up the sun and sea breezes in the idyllic coastal town, all while reminiscing over your trip so far. Here we’ll explore pristine beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and unwind amidst it’s laid-back charm.Β Taking a short boat ride to some nearby islands, where untouched coral reefs teem with vibrant marine life, offering excellent opportunities for underwater exploration.Β 

Once out of the water we’ll have the opportunityΒ to see some traditional wooden ship building. You’ll get to board one of the ships under construction and see the local methods used. Our final stop in the area will be to a turquoise fresh water lake peacefully hidden amongst lushes green forest. The perfect end to our trip. From here we’ll head back to Makassar city and say our farewells. Leaving with unforgettable experiences had and new friends made!
